Earth found this video and shared it with me. The basic idea is to put a container of some sort (like a furnace) on top of hoppers that don’t need to have items sucked in. Like a hopper chain. Doing so stops the hoppers operation of sucking items into it which decreases the cpu usage for the server as a whole. It is better explained in the video below. I will be going through all my builds and adding a furnace on top of my hoppers. Also don’t be surprised if I add furnaces on top of your hopper chains in effort to reduce lag. 🙂

We saw this this morning on Youtube, it’s a great demonstration and a nice video, we shall be adding this to our hateful hopper infested warehouse next time we’re on. Not quite as good as using water channels, but it’s the next best thing. 🙂
