Switching inventory items causes one of the items to drop – can be reproduced but only happens about 1 in 10 times. Lost a good pickaxe this way today. Seems to have started since the switch to 1.7.2.

Digging blocks under or stacking up from beneath can cause you to suddenly be thrown right off the tower/wall/whatever you’re building or demolishing. Seems to be related to that rubber-banding effect because it seems similar. Got killed by this a few days ago. Has been around since 1.6.4.

Zombie Pigmen attack out of the blue without provocation. This doesn’t seem to be a permanent thing, you can be happily going about your business with them around you and they’re passive, then they’ll just suddenly swarm and strike you. Don’t know how to reproduce this one. Just lost my last remaining set of tools and armour this way. This did happen when I first joined but I assumed back then someone else had aggravated them because they were hostile from the beginning and it was near the nether hub. This case however was in a very isolated area and as I say the pigmen had been passive until their sudden unexplained turning on me.

I’m not asking for my stuff back as frustrating as it is to keep losing gear to buggy circumstances beyond my control, all I ask is for these to please be looked at as they’re pretty serious game-breaking bugs. Quite frankly I’m reluctant to do any more on the server because I don’t know what I’m going to lose next, I never seem to have any of these problems on single player.

I realise that they may be out of staff control but could any of the server plugins/settings or whatnot be causing any of these to occur?

Unfortunately, Minecraft has never been a bug free game. There are plenty of bugs out there that are difficult to replicate that make it hard for the developers of Minecraft and Bukkit to fix them. Our plugins are very minimal and I cannot think of any way that they would cause any of those issues for you. These two sites below are what I’ll use to lookup the bugs you’ve mentioned. I linked them below because I don’t have time at the moment to look myself. I really need to get to bed, but i’ll look in the morning and see what I can find.

That’s understandable. As I say having not encountered these problems in single player I didn’t know if it was down to one of the settings or plugins, but I know it could also be because of a Minecraft multiplayer bug.

I didn’t mean any hurry you though, I understand you have other priorities IRL. I just felt it was important to post these bugs so they’re known about because they’re pretty severe. Additionally if other members are aware of them hopefully they can prevent it from happening to themselves.

sorry about your things beech. in regards to the block lag throwing you off a tower, thats just your typical block lag and has been around for a looooong time, your just noticing it now because this release is a bit laggy. to not fall off just always hold shift and you wont fall even if theres block lag that would push you off. the pigmen….i have no idea, you sure no one was in the general area and hit a pigmen? or you didnt accidentally hit a baby pigmans hitbox (even though they are babies they have adult hitboxes)? and the inventory thing i think is just client to server lag, happened to me before, restarted my router, didnt happen again.

Fired arrows apparently do not despawn in 1.7.2. Without going into specifics, because iMael came up with a very compact alternative to the design, the 1-minute timer that Spork made utilizing arrows fired onto a pressure plate no longer works because the arrow stays until the block under the pressure plate is updated. I’ve read in forums that this can be a potential lag issue if you’ve got a skeleton farm with lots of arrows being fired. I don’t have experience with that, but it may be something to look out for.

The “switching inventory” bug has been there at since before 1.6.4. I have experienced it a lot, lost a shovel a while back. And other stuff. This is not a new bug, far from it, almost half of the time I try to craft (e.g. sticks for torches) the item “disappear” and I need to close the “E” command to see it again. And suddenly, my pick is on the ground (because the space was not empty, as assumed).

Do these bugs look like what you’ve seen?

https://mojang.atlassian.net/browse/MC-40619
https://mojang.atlassian.net/browse/MC-234

I couldn’t find anything related to zombie pigmen being agro for no reason.

The first one I have experienced, but it’s a little different to what I mentioned here. Rather than the item disappearing it gets dropped on the floor until it despawns or is picked back up.

The second one I don’t think I’ve ever seen before. The problem I have is that sometimes when digging up or down I suddenly and unexpectedly get thrown off the side of wherever I was pillaring/digging down. Like for example if I was pillaring to get on top of one of my walls to fix something or get up a tree to remove the vines, while pillaring sometimes the block beneath me turns ‘slidy’ (it’s the only way I can describe it) and it’s as if some unseen force pushes me right off and I can’t control it. Same with if I’m removing a pillar from beneath. But it’s not restricted to pillars.

By the way, can anyone submit a bug report to that site or is it only for server admins?

I appreciate you looking into the cause of this.

Beech, Spork and I have experienced the same pillaring-down-and-getting-thrown issue you’re describing, and it was happening before we switched to 1.7.2, if that’s useful information at all. Our solution has been to dig down slower. Since most of our shovels are diamond with Eff IV or V, that’s *hard*, but we manage it by just tapping the button as briefly as we can so we only go one block at a time. We also hold down shift while digging down. Not the greatest solution, but when we’re working at y-220 type of heights, it’s a necessary work-around.

Anyone can, just need to submit some method of recreating the issue. Quib found a problem with bukkit and got it fixed through there.
